Diamond Way Buddhism in Montenegro

Diamond Way Buddhism provides easy access to authentic Buddhist teachings and meditations for contemporary life.

600 Buddhist centers across the Western world present Buddhism in a modern practical context in over 30 languages. Hannah and Lama Ole Nydahl founded them under the spiritual guidance of His Holiness the 16th Karmapa.

In Montenegro, there is a Buddhist center in Budva and a Buddhist group in Bar.

Our Centers

Diamond Way Buddhist centers are friendly places where you can get easy access to Buddhist teachings, learn to meditate, and meet other people who practice Buddhism while living modern lives.

These centers have been established since the 1970s by Lama Ole Nydahl, one of the few fully qualified Western masters in the Karma Kagyu lineage, together with his wife Hannah. Their main teacher, His Holiness the 16th Karmapa, asked them to start Buddhist centers in the West in his name.

What is Meditation?

What is meditation

Buddhist meditation gives us freedom to work with emotions and circumstances. It increases stability and happiness, and results in an experience of the nature of mind itself — radiant and timelessly joyful.

Who was Buddha?

Buddha was a historical person, a prince in ancient India, who left his royal life in search of a truly reliable, lasting happiness. After years of meditation, he achieved enlightenment, and taught others to do the same.

Being a Buddhist

Being a Buddhist means trying to bring the insights from our meditation into daily life. Keeping the view from meditation gives us more space to act consciously instead of from habit or disturbing emotions.

Welcome to Meditation

Before the common meditation on the 16th Karmapa in the center, friends provide a brief explanation of this practice. You can then participate in a joint meditation. The meditation lasts approximately 30 minutes and requires no preparation.

Participation in the explanations and meditation is free.

About Lama Ole Nydahl

Lama Ole Nydahl

Lama Ole Nydahl is one of the few fully qualified Western Buddhist lamas in the Karma Kagyu lineage.

Since being asked by the leader of the Karma Kagyu school, the 16th Karmapa, in 1972 to offer Buddhism to those who were interested in the West, he has been doing so constantly in spiritually free countries all around the world.
Lama Ole specializes in teaching Mahamudra, the “Great Seal”, in which a realized teacher can give an experience of the limitless nature of mind to the student, as well as the transmission of Phowa, “Conscious Dying”, a rare, centuries-old meditation practice. In his teachings, Lama Ole stresses combining lay Buddhist practice with independent thinking and the maturity that comes from life experience, as well as the importance of taking care of society, especially freedom of speech and women’s rights.
